Full details of what is happening on August Bank Holiday weekend

On Saturday 24th August we will be holding our annual Barn Dance.  This is great fun for the whole family.  With Hetty Pegler’s Tump returning again to provide the entertainment, put on your checked shirt and cowboy boots and ride on down for a rip-roaring time!

Fun starts at 7:30pm in the Marquee on Twyning Green and will go on until around 11:00pm.

Ticket prices are held once again at £5 for a child (under 12) and £13 for adults and children 12 and over. Ticket includes entry and a hotdog/burger, provided this year once again by our local butchers Halfords.

There is a licensed bar provided by Gary and Sandra from The Village Inn

So get your tickets now to avoid disappointment.  They are available from Lorna Herold on 294292 or from any TRAC committee member

Sunday 25th August

Over the past few years, the Church have held their Sunday service in the Marquee.  This continues this year and will start at 10am.

From 9:30 am, we will also be holding The Twyning Motor Show.  This year we will see not only the classic cars from the past, but a range of electric cars of the future.

While all this is going on, there will be teas coffees and bacon rolls for sale

Every year the Sunday attractions grow in popularity, please come along and help this continue

Monday 26th August

The big event, Twyning Fete

It never ceases to amaze us, just how popular our fete is, drawing people from far and wide, it really is a great way to showcase everything about Twyning.

We have stalls from local organisations including Twyning Honey, Twyning Church, Playgroup & Tots, Scouts, Twyning Logs to name but a few. We will also be running some of our own stalls such as the ladder game, coconut shy, wine stall, tombola, Pims, dung drop and bouncy slide

As usual we will have our large car boot sale.  Car booters can arrive anytime from 11am and the cost is between £6 and £10 depending on the size of the pitch/vehicle

This years arena attractions will see the return of Rock Choir and our local covers band Bucketlist. Not to mention of course our traditional fun and games of the egg throwing competition and tug-o-war.

Bucketlist at the recent Twyning School fundraiser

There will be plenty of refreshments in the form of tea/coffee and cakes inside the marquee, a licenced bar provided by Gary and Sandra from The Village inn and a BBQ

There will be a raffle, run by Twyning Tennis club, where you have the chance to win a number of great prizes, including a 1st prize of £100 cash.

The competition entries each year get better and better. We have many different categories so there should be something for everyone. This year we are honoured to have the great local photographer Jack Boskett judging the photo competition. Check out the entry form for a full list of categories.

This years Scarecrow competition is the theme of “lights, camera, action”.  We are always amazed as to how much thought and skill goes into these scarecrows which makes judging really tough, but we love it.  It is also great to see these great pieces of work on display around the village.

There is ample car parking provided by 2 of our local residents which means you can park close to the event, without the need for a long walk.

So come along to any or all of the weekends fun and enjoy a great traditional village weekend
